ephemeral ART

Students will reuse natural materials to make an artwork while respecting nature and the environment.

The task is to create an ephemeral sculpture in a site-specific area that will eventually decompose into the environment.

Student Examples:
Powerpoint for instruction:
Materials:

  1. Go to your assigned area with your group and observe the materials that the site offers.
  2. Begin gathering your natural materials.
  3. Remember to take photos of your process as wind or other elements can alter your project.
  4. Take a photo of your completed work! Your art will stay on site to decay into the Earth.
Project Steps:
The class will be looking at examples of environmental artists and those that work with nature’s beauty such as Andy Goldsworthy and Ana Mendieta to feel inspiration towards their own artwork.
